Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio panned likely candidates for President-elect Joe Biden’s cabinet in a Tuesday tweet.
Outlining the qualifications of people such as former Secretary of State John Kerry — tapped to serve as Biden’s Climate Czar — Rubio explained, “I have no interest in returning to the ‘normal’ that left us dependent on China.”
“Biden’s cabinet picks went to Ivy League schools, have strong resumes, attend all the right conferences & will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline. I support American greatness,” the Florida senator tweeted.

Biden’s list of likely picks includes a number of former officials who served in fromer President Barack Obama’s administration. Janet Yellen, former chair of the Federal Reserve, is expected to be Biden’s choice for Treasury Secretary. Antony Blinken, who served as Obama’s deputy secretary of state, will be nominated to be secretary of state. Among Biden’s top advisers is Jen Psaki, who previously served as Obama’s White House Communications Director.
And some of Biden’s choices are likely to ruffle more feathers than others. Many are referring to the potential picks as “boring” — even “delightfully” so.
Playbook.
THE BIGGEST SHIFT in Washington in January won’t only be that Democrats are taking the White House. It will be that the BIDEN administration will be — as @BrendanBuck pointed out — “delightfully boring.”@harrispolitico calls it “Joe Biden’s Team of Careerists.” pic.twitter.com/kFcC8EpG1u

But rumors that Biden could be holding a place for former Democratic Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel sparked backlash from Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others. (RELATED: ‘Expansive Power’: Here’s Who Progressives Want To See In Joe Biden’s Cabinet)
What is so hard to understand about this?
Rahm Emanuel helped cover up the murder of Laquan McDonald. Covering up a murder is disqualifying for public leadership.
This is not about the “visibility” of a post. It is shameful and concerning that he is even being considered. https://t.co/P28C0E4fYP

Rahm Emanuel does not deserve public dollars.
He does not serve the public.
He never has. https://t.co/kNJ8qBWJZQ

“Less visible role” doesn’t sound good either.
The people of Chicago said it best.

Biden could also find himself limited by an oppositional Senate with regard to positions that require confirmation votes. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has already warned the president-elect that, should he retain control of the Senate, the more progressive nominations might have a difficult time getting through the process.
