Ellen DeGeneres was cancelled from Hollywood in 2022 for being ‘mean,’ and she’s now making a comeback by using that mean narrative to fuel a new stand-up Netflix show.
Staffers previously came forward with allegations against DeGeneres, saying the talk show host and famous comedian was a mean person who created a toxic work environment. It didn’t take long before she was forced to pull the plug on her wildly successful talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and she faded away – until now. DeGeneres is now poking fun at the entire situation and using the ‘mean-Ellen’ commentary in her new stand-up show, according to TMZ.
The star took the stage at a live show in Los Angeles recently, and reporters in attendance noted the rumors about her being mean were the main components of her new comedic content.
DeGeneres poked fun at the industry for kicking her off her show.
“What else can I tell you? Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business,” she quipped.
“There’s no mean people in show business,” she added sarcastically, according to TMZ.
The famous comedian addressed her feelings on the matter while poking fun at the irony in the situation.
“The hate went on for a long time and I would try to avoid looking at the news. The ‘be kind’ girl wasn’t kind. That was the headline,” she said, according to TMZ.
“I became this one-dimensional character who gave stuff away and danced up steps … Would a mean person dance up steps?” she asked in her stand-up show.
“Had I ended my show by saying, ‘Go fuck yourself,’ people would’ve been pleasantly surprised,” DeGeneres quipped, as she sarcastically drew comparisons between the rumors and the way she ended each of her talk show segments by saying, “be kind to one another.”
DeGeneres spoke candidly about how she was personally impacted when she was canceled.
“Honestly, I’m making jokes about what happened to me but it was devastating, really,” she said on stage, according to TMZ.
“I just hated the way the show ended. I love that show so much and I just hated that the last time people would see me is that way.” (RELATED: Rumor Has It DiCaprio Pulled A Savage Move After Playboy Model Refused To Go Home With Him: REPORT)
