TikTok reportedly temporarily shut down Lionsgate’s account May 7 after they deemed “The Strangers: Chapter 1” live stream to be too disturbing to be shown.

Fans who tried tuning in to the studio’s official TikTok page noted it was abruptly canceled at approximately 11:30 p.m. The social media platform issued an alert that explained their decision, according to People.

“We do not allow showing or promoting dangerous activities and challenges,” TikTok’s alert message read. “This includes dares, games, tricks, inappropriate use of dangerous tools, eating substances that are harmful to one’s health, or similar activities that may lead to significant physical harm.”

A screengrab of the live stream obtained by People showed the responses of offended viewers. One fan reportedly wrote, “STOP I DON’T LIKE THIS,” as creepy, shadowy footage showed a masked individual holding a sign that directly referenced the movie.

“Riverdale” alum Petsch quickly responded by saying, “Ooops!” but added nothing further, according to People. TikTok has yet to issue a public comment about the matter.

The film stars Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez and hits theaters May 17. The movie promises edge-of-your-seat, thrilling horror scenes that apparently proved to be too much for the social media platform.

In addition to the overly-eerie TikTok content, there were other aspects of the film’s promotional campaign that were notably different than the norm. The costumed killer characters were spotted casually attending Coachella in April, and Ring camera footage of the three killers stalking doorsteps have gone viral on social media.

“The Strangers: Chapter 1” was inspired by the 2008 film that originally starred Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman. In the new version, Petsch and Gutierrez star as a couple on a road trip only to find that their car breaks down in a very sketchy small town. They end up being “forced to spend the night in a remote cabin.”

They begin facing a string of odd incidents, and “panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive,” according to People. (RELATED: Teaser Trailer For ‘The Crow’ Promises Violent, Edge-Of-Your-Seat Experience)
